WALKS THE EARTH
Mission: "To help create a space that engenders and allows for participation in the sharing and exchange of knowledge, experiences, cultural practice and cultural expression to creating self-sustainable energy independent communities". We are a tribal organization on the Cheyenne River Sioux reservation. Our primary purposes are to develop adobe homes, raise buffalo, grow organic food and utilize renewable energy through our Lakota philosophy and practices so we can create hope for our future generations.
Wolakolkiciyapi
The strength and wisdom found in our collective cultural practices and cultural expressions allows us to join together with many 'voices.' These voices, both traditional and contemporary, give us the opportunity to share a common voice with a collective vision towards our future. The oral traditions in Storytelling, Music, Dance and Art can be expressed in ways that affirm our identity as Indigenous peoples. The expression of our artistic and cultural symbols can be incorporated into building designs and community development by which we learn to live with one another, reconcile our differences, and exchange, through education, with the greater world community.
